This glossary contains some terms that can be used to understand better the field of education.

- a person who teaches, especially in a school.

- Example: There are four new students in the class this semester.

- noun
- An amount of teaching given at one time; a period of learning or teaching.
- Example: An advanced lesson in math.

- noun
- The method and practice of teaching, especially as an academic subject or theoretical concept.
- Example: The relationship between applied linguistics and language pedagogy.

- To show or tell someone that something is wrong and to make it right.
- Example: Students said it was helpful if the teacher corrected their pronunciation.

- noun
- A task or piece of work assigned to someone as part of a job or course of study.
- Example: My teacher gave us homework assignments for the next week.

- noun
- Online schools provide virtual classes that a student takes at home. Blended learning provides a mix of online and face-to-face instruction.

- A grant or payment made to support a student's education, awarded on the basis of academic or other achievement

- A book used as a standard work for the study of a particular subject.
- Example: I forgot to bring my textbook for this morning.

- noun
- A system of methods used in a particular area of study or activity.
- Example: A methodology for investigating the concept of focal points.

- Act as a tutor to (a single student or a very small group).

- A document that outlines everything that will be covered in a class.
- Example: The syllabus was extremely prescriptive, and involved sitting several important examinations before admittance to the clinical phase.
